Approximately 3% of the population is impacted by Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), and around 6% of individuals will experience GAD at some point in their lives. While normal stress can be beneficial, keeping us attentive and cautious of potential hazards, individuals with GAD experience excessive, persistent, and unreasonable stress. This leads to anxiety concerning regular situations like their occupation, health, finances, family, and responsibilities.
Common symptoms include:
The exact cause of GAD is not fully understood. There is evidence that it has a genetic component as it tends to run in families and occurs at a higher rate in women. Trauma is also a known contributing factor in the development of GAD.
Your healthcare provider will first rule out other causes such as medications, drug abuse, other mental health disorder, or underlying medical conditions such as thyroid disease. To meet the diagnostic criteria, symptoms must persist for at least 6 months and present on most days. Your healthcare provider may ask you to fill out a GAD-7 questionnaire which involves rating your symptoms on a scale.

“Prompt response was awesome! This was the only online service that did not require a telehealth visit. I did not want to talk to anyone about my symptoms, so simply doing online questionnaire was perfect. Before I found this service I was just going without help, which was miserable. I feel so much better now. I actually feel enjoyment in everyday life now. I didn't realize how deeply depression & anxiety was affecting me until after I started feeling better. I absolutely recommend CallonDoc."
“I needed to see a psychiatrist to update my anxiety meds and ask a few questions. The doctor let me ask questions and was very patient and helpful. The price was also a big win for me, it saved me about $150!”
“This experience was incredible. I didn't have to wait for days to see my doctor who would charge me $250 for an appointment, then take a day or two to get the Rx to the pharmacy. I have no insurance and CallonDoc put me on the path to a better life--soon to be managing my anxiety and depression with necessary meds. Thank you CallonDoc!"
